Gimbal Lock Plate
Due to its complexity, a customer in the medical industry chose Swiss Precision Machining, Inc. to manufacture this stainless steel gimbal lock plate, which is used to keep cables from intertwining in robotic surgical applications.
The customer supplied drawings called out the use of 17-4PH H900 stainless steel, which has the strength and corrosion resistance to withstand repeated sterilizations. We programmed our multi-axis CNC screw machine and executed setups that required a wide variety of tools to accurately and repeatedly form the multiple dimensions, contours, and angles. Throughout the manufacturing process, dimensional and optical inspections verified that we maintained close tolerances on dimensional and angular attributes on this .687″ O.D. x .190″ wide part.
