If you’re looking to jumpstart a career in manufacturing or become a part of an industry leader in precision machining, SPM is the place to be. Offering hands-on training and continuing education opportunities, our highly experienced team members will help get you up to speed on all things SPM, including the latest in precision machining technology.
There’s no one better than some of our longest-standing employees to tell you what they love about working at SPM. Patti Arnold and Will Arnold (of no relation) have both been at SPM since 2010. Clocking in at 17 years of employment this year, Chris Chavez started his career at SPM back in 2004.
For the past 11 years, Patti has worked as a cross-functional employee, doing everything from machine operation and quality inspection to tooling and more, while Will has worked as a machine operator. Meanwhile, Chris has consistently worked as a quality control inspector. Listen in as these three individuals talk about what makes SPM special.
What do you like most about your job at SPM?
Patti loves all of her coworkers, stating “everyone is so nice and helpful,” and Chris loves the flexibility of his work. For Will, the best part is that “the company never stops trying to learn, never stops trying to grow, and never stops trying to accommodate the employees and customers.”
What do you look forward to at work every day?
For Chris, completing his production for the day is the highlight. Will loves getting to see people who he considers friends and family every day. Meanwhile, Patti loves it all, but especially getting “to see what I have to do that day” and whether it will be “something new.”
What is your proudest accomplishment at SPM?
Will is very proud of his ability to “learn and grow enough to be able to celebrate lasting over 10 years.” Meanwhile, Chris is most proud of his work ethic, particularly being on time every single day and always finishing his workload by the end of his shift. Patti loves that she’s been trained in different departments because, as she states, “I like to help out wherever I’m needed.”
What drives you to continue to work at SPM?
Will chalks his loyalty to SPM up to “the people, environment, culture, and success that surrounds SPM.” For Chris, working at SPM has given him “a better life,” and he’s a big fan of his coworkers. Patti summed it up well when she said, “SPM feels like a second family. We fuss and argue sometimes, but in the end, we are all here together, for the same goal.”
