Earth Day 2016

Every year on April 22nd, events are held all around the world to demonstrate support for environmental protection.  This day is officially known as Earth Day and is celebrated in over 190 countries.  The goal of Earth Day is to bring attention to harmful pollution that is hurting the environment, as well as promote steps that individuals and companies can take to cut back on the pollution they may be causing.   With the first Earth Day occurring in 1970, we are now entering the 46th year of the movement to protect the environment.

Governments around the world are taking protecting the environment more seriously these days.  This year on Earth Day world leaders are meeting at the United Nations Headquarters in New York to sign the Paris Agreement.  This agreement on climate change will help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions all around the world in an effort to stop global warming.  The goal of this agreement is to work to limit global temperature rise to well below 2 degrees Celsius, and even aim for 1.5 degrees Celsius.  The governments signing also will be more transparent in sharing what they are doing to reach this goal, and will take steps to help developing nations limit their emissions as well.

At Swiss Precision Machining, LLC we understand the importance of Earth Day and the movement to protect the environment.  We have a number of policies in place and have taken a number of steps to limit our negative effect on the environment.  Recycling is one of the main things we do to limit our harmful environmental footprint.  For paper recycling and hard drive destruction and recycling we use Shred It services that reduced the amount of non-biodegradable garbage we release into the environment.   We also recycle our light bulbs and ballasts by using services from Air Cycle, and use Garvey Office Products for electronic recycling.  With our ISO certifications we also take steps to improve all our machining and manufacturing processes to improve efficiencies and cut down on waste that can be harmful to the environment.  To learn more about the machining services we offer and how we help the environment, be sure to visit our website and follow us on Twitter and LinkedIn.
