This year SPM will be attending the 10th annual BIOMEDevice event, December 7-8 at the San Jose Convention Center in San Jose, California.
This is Silicon Valley’s premier event for Medtech professionals, bringing all emerging trends and technology to one place, to set the tone for the biomed industry in 2017 and beyond.
For those who do not know what biomed (biomedical technology) entails, very broadly it is the application of technology and engineering principles to living/biological systems (eg. the human body). The outlook for this industry is very positive and has a lot of potential for growth now and into the future.
300 medtech suppliers – 2600 biomed professionals – 20 hours of learning opportunities
Also being featured is a free industry keynote speech by Co-founder of the Cyborg Foundation Neil Harbisson seen on Ted Talk. He was born completely color blind, and built a device which he wears on his head that is able to turn color into audible frequencies. Yes, he can hear color, and has even extended his equipment’s frequency range to include infrared and ultraviolet spectrums, so he can “see” even more than even people who are not color blind. He can listen to paintings and people’s faces, and can convert well known speeches into color patterns!
The conference will be discussing topics such as the “Internet of Things”, product development, data security, mHealth (mobile health) and much more. Free presentations, demos, and discussions, a theater for the latest technology in the medical field, and tours will be given to meet with companies in device design, manufacturing, and packaging. Many major industry players will be present, including Boston Scientific and St. Jude Medical, so this will be a great opportunity for SPM to really show what they’re capable of within this emerging and pivotal sector of our economy.
